I was all set to spend a lovely afternoon outside drinking iced coffee and reading David Sedaris, when the weather announced it had other plans. Why is it everytime I want to do something weather-specific, the weather changes? It'll be a nasty, rainy day, perfect for staying in and vegging out, but the moment I turn on the DVD player the sun starts shining in full force and I'll feel guilty for wasting such a wonderful day indoors. Damn you, New England.
So now I've got money, although it was a little troubling when I went to the bank and was able to withdraw cash simply by providing my name and account number. They didn't even ask for photo ID (which I have in the form of a temporary driver's license. I've got to wait "7 to 10 business days" for my new ATM card, Visa card and license, as well as for the cable guys to come and finally fix up my dad's cable modem, which doesn't work because of some underground thing. But I digress.) Anyone--well, any woman, but that still leaves half of the country--could look at one of my ATM receipts, learn my name and account information, and withdraw my money from the bank.
Has getting robbed made me paranoid, or does this disturb anyone else?
