Sitting here at Bart's, doing research thanks to the miracles of a flexible job and wireless Internet. Every so often, a gaggle of high schoolers rushes in, everyone talking loudly and breathlessly over one another. I'm the serious, career-minded college student in the corner, eyes glued to the laptop screen, the type the high schoolers secretly think they'll be lucky enough to avoid becoming. They pay no attention to me and I pay none to them, except to cringe when their chatter disrupts my focus. It strikes me that I'll never be that obnoxious again, and it makes me sad. I mean, right now is when most guys are hitting their peak obnoxiousness levels, but mine--and most girls'--are lost back in the days of middle and early high school.
There is a fucking ENORMOUS bee crawling on the window. And they're playing that obnoxious song about heaven by that vaguely Latin band, and my parking meter is running out, and someone I don't particularly want to talk has just started a shift here. It's about time I hit the trail to a more acceptable work environment. Say, Starbucks?
