I guess it's indicative of how polarized and how volatile this country has become that a 19-year-old girl can rant about George Bush in her personal online journal and receive a several-paragraph rebuttal in a matter of hours. Or maybe it's just indicative of how much time people are spending online, expressing their opinions to readers who are unlikely to care. With any luck the increase in cancer caused by screen radiation will be cancelled out by the decrease in cancer caused by sun exposure.
I found a 13-year-old Iraqi girl's blog through that "Next Blog" button, and I have to say it was pretty disheartening. It seemed like she was mostly interested in posting pictures of cats, while American readers were interested in pushing their own political agendas. Check out the comments on some of her entries, particularly the ones not about cats. Some of that language would be incomprehensible to American 13-year-olds, let alone 13-year-olds who don't speak English as a first language. This little girl's site has become a battleground of sorts between those who support the Iraqi invasion and those who don't.
Whatever happened to the Internet being used for porn? Doesn't anybody do that anymore, or do they just argue through each other's blogs about whether porn objectifies women?

yea...at least you got ONE rebutle...
i agree with your assesment, as well as others. i think personal opinions posted in blogs should be free from any sort of mean commenting...in general. i think there are some people out there that are so caught up in making sure everyone else thinks like them that we end up spending more time argueing with eachother then we should. i think the most intelegent post yet is dearest abby's...and check that out, because the postive response to that was followed by someone making sure that the first poster was put down. i'm really getting tired of it.
