"It's-a me, Mario! Now who's-a ready to gender the discourse?"

I think I'm getting to that point where I can't keep track of all the things I'm doing. This is a little scary. Tests, papers and presentations fly at me, materializing from nowhere, and I have to get as many done as humanly possible. It's like some kind of incredibly boring video game. Except in video games you don't have to sleep, and you get multiple lives. Those lucky pixellated bastards.
Making matters worse is the increasing number of enormous tour groups on campus. They annoy me because I know that any one prospective student in any given tour group is smarter and better-looking than I am. Why couldn't I have gone to a school that gets less selective every year?
In my Jewish Mysticism class, the teacher started talking about how Jews turned to humor to deal with the constant persecution they were faced with. I wonder if that's something I inherited--finding the humor in tragic situations, using witty self-deprecation as a weapon to put yourself down before others can. My professor didn't say whether or not she thought this was a good thing. But I figure if this Jewish humor tradition produced both Jon Stewart and Woody Allen, it deserves to be continued for at least a few more generations.
